The heart of the AKS connection

The AKS 4G gateway is the transmission element of the Akuasense system. It receives measurements from connected probes and sends them every hour to the Akua Hub platform via 4G network — SIM and data plan included in the subscription, no extra operator costs.

This product is sold individually, for replacement or custom configuration. If you are equipping a new plot, the complete AKS kit (probe + gateway) remains the recommended entry point.

What the gateway does

  • Operates fully autonomously thanks to its lithium battery and integrated solar panel
  • Geolocalises each measurement point within the plot

Up to 3 probes on a single gateway

Each AKS probe is delivered with a cable fitted with a T-connector, enabling multiple probes to be daisy-chained onto a single gateway. A gateway can thus manage up to 3 probes simultaneously — 3 plots, 3 different soil zones, or 3 measurement points on the same plot.

Frequently asked questions

When should I buy the gateway on its own?
The standalone gateway is mainly intended for two situations: replacing a damaged or faulty gateway on an existing installation; or a separate purchase as part of an advanced configuration (e.g. bulk purchase of standalone probes to connect to a separately acquired gateway). For a first installation, we recommend the complete AKS kit, which includes the probe and gateway at an optimised price.
How many probes can be connected to a single gateway?
An AKS 4G gateway accepts up to 3 probes connected in series, using the T-cable included with each probe. It is also compatible with a Watermark 200SS tensiometric probe.
Does the gateway include the SIM and 4G data plan?
The SIM card is integrated into the gateway and the 4G data plan is included in the Akua Hub subscription (€10 excl. VAT/month for 5 probes). No extra operator costs, no external SIM required.
Does the gateway require an external power source?
No. The gateway is 100% autonomous: it integrates a lithium battery recharged by its integrated solar panel. No power outlet, no manual recharging.
Can the gateway be mounted at height on a mast?
Yes. The remote mounting kit (1.5 m steel mast + 2 m or 4 m extension cable) allows the gateway to be positioned at height to optimise solar exposure and 4G network coverage. It is sold separately.
What is the compatibility with AKS probes?
The AKS 4G gateway is compatible with all probe models: aks-30, aks-60, aks-90 and aks-120. Different models can be mixed on the same gateway.
